from the wiki under espionage -------------

When being attacked, probes now have a chance of being detected via counterespionage. Probes detected in this manner will still generate espionage reports as per usual, however they will then do battle with the defending world's defenses and ships just as if they had attacked.

The chance of counterespionage occuring is affected by:

* 1. The espionage techs of the two parties. The higher the defender's espionage tech relative to the attacker's, the higher the chance of counterespionage.
* 2. The number of probes sent. The higher the number of probes sent, the more likely the counterespionage.
* 3. The number of defending ships in orbit around the planet. The higher the number, the more likely the counterespionage.

PostSubject: remeber that espionage and counter-espinage works on the squared difference of your ESP lvl.   Fri Jan 22, 2010 5:45 pm

What this means is if you are 1 lvl higher than your enemy you will have 2 lvl difference. But if you are 2 higher you will have a 4 lvl difference.

The same works in reverse for espionage.

most people will stop at lvl 8. If you truely want ESP to make an impact you will want to be at lvl 10.

Remember that it takes 7 lvls to see all of your tagets info and yours.
