How to abandon a planet

You can shut down your mines and transport everything away from them
Let a fellow player shoot down your satellites, then harvest it.
the de-building feature is not used in this case as it takes time and actual resources to use, and is only viable if you are breaking down to the previous level in order to raise something else up on a maxed planet.
Once your transport of resources is at its destination, simply highlight the planet you wish to abandon, go to the homepage and select the "Abandon Planet" feature.
The game will ask you to type the word "ABANDON" (in caps) in a provided box, and voila!

make sure all workers are off the planet or they will be thrown into the sun along with the plant. Human or robot.
